Río Celeste and Tenorio Volcano National Park, Caño Negro's wetlands, and Monteverde's cloud forest are all workable as day trips from La Fortuna, ranging from about ninety minutes to four hours each way. Most visitors pick one, since the driving alone fills a meaningful part of the day.
