Canyoning
Rappelling down waterfalls in the canyons cut by the Río Peñas Blancas and Río Balsa, on the slopes below Arenal Volcano. Full-day routes typically string together four to six rappels, the tallest well over 50 metres, finishing with a swim or a zip line back to the trailhead.
