White-water rafting

Class II-III runs on the Río Balsa close to La Fortuna, an easier introduction through jungle canyon, and the tougher Class III-IV Río Sarapiquí a couple of hours northeast. Both rivers run year-round, fed by rain rather than snowmelt, so levels shift with the season rather than disappearing in the dry months.
