Kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding on Lake Arenal, an artificial reservoir formed when the dam closed in 1979, with the volcano's cone visible across the water on a clear day. The lake's western end near Nuevo Arenal is Central America's best-known windsurfing and kitesurfing spot, thanks to steady trade winds funnelled down the valley.
