The Bogarín Trail on the edge of La Fortuna town is a reliable, low-effort spot for toucans, sloths and a long list of resident birds within walking distance of most hotels. Resplendent quetzals are a Monteverde specialty rather than a La Fortuna one, best seen there from February to July during their breeding season.
