Costa Rica's dry season runs December to April and the green season May to November, with a short dry spell called the veranillo in June and July. La Fortuna sits on the rainy Caribbean-facing slope, so afternoon showers are common even in the dry months, and rain year-round is normal rather than a bad-luck exception.
